The California baseball program participated in the 2024 Bay Area Baseball Media Day virtually Tuesday morning. The Golden Bears were represented by head coach Mike Neu and juniors Caleb Lomavita and Rodney Green Jr.

The trio met with attending media and previewed the upcoming 2024 season, which begins Friday, Feb. 16, against Kansas State at the 2024 Desert Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Neu, who enters his seventh year at the helm, discussed the Cal's key returners, the depth in the pitching staff and the Bears' last season competing in the Pac-12.

Lomavita and Green are two of the top returning players for the Bears in 2024. The duo both earned Pac-12 all-conference honors in 2024. Green is coming off a tremendous summer in which he was selected to play for the 2023 United States Collegiate National Team, representing Team USA in a pair of five-game series with Chinese Taipei and Japan.

Green had a breakout campaign in 2023. He was one of three Bears to start every game and finished the year putting up career-best numbers in hits (49), doubles (9), home runs (14), RBI (37) and stolen bases (28).

Lomavita, who was recently named a Preseason Second-Team All-American by Baseball America, shared how the Bears are looking to get back to the regionals and what they are doing each day to ensure that.

A mainstay at the top of the order for the Golden Bears, he led Cal with 16 home runs in 2023. This summer he continued to shine, earning his second consecutive All-Star appearance in the prestigious Cape Cod League playing for the Cotuit Keetleers.
