The California football team announced the addition of two student-athletes Wednesday on National Signing Day to increase the size of its 2024 recruiting class to 30 members with punter
Bobby Engstler (Tallahassee, FL/Lawton Chiles HS) and defensive back
Khamani Hudson (Houston, TX/North Shore HS) the most recent players to join the Golden Bears. Both are scheduled to arrive in Berkeley in June.

Engstler was the nation's top-ranked combined punter and kicker according to Kohl's, receiving five stars at both spots and being called the "most consistent punter of the 2024 class" by the media outlet. He finished his prep career with 106 points (15-22 FG, 61-61 XP), a 40.8 yards per punt average and an average of 65.1 yards per kickoff. He was on the Under Armour All-America Game roster and named by the Tallahassee Democrat as the All-Big Bend Specialist of the Year as a 2023 senior.
Hudson was a two-way player at wide receiver and cornerback for a pair of squads that combined for a 30-2 overall record and a 14-0 mark in 6A Region III District 21 games with identical 15-1 overall and 7-0 District finishes each season to reach the state 6A DI finals and win District titles during both his 2022 junior and 2023 senior campaigns. He earned first-team All-District honors as a 2023 senior when he had 29 tackles, two interceptions and 11 pass breakups.

Cal ranks as high as No. 8Â nationally in the On3 transfer portal rankings for 2024 after reaching as high as No. 6, while Buchanan (No. 6 linebacker, 247Sports), Harris (No. 7 cornerback, 247Sports), Matthews (No. 10 wide receiver, On3 Industry),
Chandler Rogers (No. 10 quarterback, On3), Reimer (No. 14 offensive tackle, On3 Industry), Coe (No. 17 placekicker, On3) and Stoffel (No. 19 interior offensive lineman, On3) have national top 20 rankings among transfer portal players for their position.
Smith is ESPN's second-ranked junior college cornerback and 10th-best player overall, while Crosby is 247Sports No. 5 JUCO safety. Caminong is ranked No. 27 among ESPN's top high school pocket passers and five others have their best position ranking among the top 60 prep players nationally at their position in
Trevor Rogers (No. 38 wide receiver, On3), Jones (No. 44 tight end, 247Sports), Canady (No. 45 defensive lineman, Rivals), Wiley (No. 50 running back, Rivals) and Aupiu (No. 58 safety, ESPN).
The 2024 recruiting class includes an FCS AP All-American in Harris, a prep state champion in
Trevor Rogers, and an experienced quarterback who has thrown for over 7,000 passing yards and 53 scores collegiately in
Chandler Rogers.
Eleven members of the class call Texas home, while seven are from California, followed by three from Washington, and one each from Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon and Pennsylvania. The Bears also have one signee in Stoffel who hails from Stockholm, Sweden.
The group includes 15 on the offensive side of the ball (5 OL, 5 WR, 2 QB, 2 RB, 1 TE), 13 on defense (6 DB, 4 DL, 2 LB, 1 ILB), one punter and one placekicker.
Cal is scheduled to begin spring football on March 18 and culminate with the Cal Football Spring Showcase on April 20. The Golden Bears will hold their first four practices between March 18-23 before resuming spring sessions with 11 additional workouts from April 3-20 culminating with the Cal Football Spring Showcase.
Cal will open the 2024 season against UC Davis on Aug. 31 with the Bears' slate in their first season as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
