California track & field has a busy weekend ahead, with athletes from the squad scheduled to make appearances at three different meets on Feb. 9-10.

The largest contingent will appear at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with representatives competing in the sprints, hurdles, vertical jumps, horizontal jumps and throws. Top transfers Rowan Hamilton and Caisa-Marie Lindfors will make their Golden Bear debuts, with Hamilton entering the weight throw competition for the first time in his collegiate career and Lindfors set to appear in the shot put. Cal's long jumpers will also look to have another strong outing, with the 11th-ranked men set to field eight individuals in this week's competition; senior Mason Mangum leads that group with a season-best mark of 7.51m (24-7.75).

The Bears' distance squad will compete for the first time this season, with 10 different runners scheduled to appear across three events at the Husky Classic in Seattle. Two of Cal's top distance runners – seniors Claire Yerby and Garrett MacQuiddy – will be running the mile all the way across the country at Boston's David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Last year, MacQuiddy became the first Cal man since 2016 to run a sub-four-minute mile, while Yerby added two program top-10 times to the indoor record book.

In the Bears' opening weekend at the New Mexico Team Open (Jan. 26-27), the Bears set three program records and seven additional top 10s  while recording 13 top-three finishes. Juniors David Foster and Makhaila Mills ran 6.56 and 7.27 in the men's and women's 60m, respectively, to rise to the top of Cal's all-time lists; Foster's time is tied for the fifth-fastest in the NCAA, while Mills currently ranks in a tie for 21st. Pole vaulter Skyler Magula rose from No. 3 to No. 1 in the program record book, clearing the bar at 5.51m (18-1) for a new indoor personal best.
