BERKELEY – The California women's basketball team earned an at-large berth into the inaugural 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament, as announced as part of the WBIT Selection Show on Sunday evening. The Golden Bears (18-14, 7-11 Pac-12) earned the No. 2 seed and will host Hawaii (20-10, 17-3) on Thursday at Haas Pavilion (exact gametime TBD).

The second round will take place on March 24 and the quarterfinals on March 28, with the highest-seeded teams hosting games. WBIT semifinal and final games will be played April 1 and 3 at Butler's historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Every game of the 32-team tournament will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, with ESPN+ being the exclusive home for all preliminary-round games. The semifinals will air on ESPNU at 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time, and the championship will air on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET.

Cal owns an overall record of 25-22 in postseason play (NCAA Tournament and WNIT) with its most recent appearance coming in 2018-19 when the Bears were a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament and defeated No. 9 North Carolina to advance to the second round before falling to No. 1 overall seed Baylor.

The winner of Thursday's matchup will take on the winner of Saint Joseph's/Seton Hall in the second round.

This year marks the best season under fifth-year head coach Charmin Smith as she led the team to its most overall (18) and conference wins (7) since the 2018-19 season. Since that same season, this is the first time the Bears have had a home weekend Pac-12 sweep (Washington and Washington State), a road weekend Pac-12 sweep (Washington and Washington State) and an opening round win in the Pac-12 Tournament (Washington State). Under Smith's leadership, Cal also set a program record for 3-pointers (264) and swept Oregon for the first time since the 2012-13 season, which also marked the first time the Bears have had a season-sweep of three different Pac-12 schools since the 2017-18 season.
