Bears’ SEC/ACC Challenge Matchup Announced
Cal Hosts Alabama On Dec. 5
BERKELEY – The California women's basketball team will compete in its first SEC/ACC Challenge game next season as matchups across both conferences were announced by ESPN on Wednesday. The Golden Bears will host Alabama on Dec. 5 as part of the annual cross-conference matchups, which began last season. Gametimes and broadcast designations will be announced at a later date.
This will mark just the second all-time meeting between the Bears and Crimson Tide. Alabama won the first matchup between the schools that took place on Nov. 24, 2000, as part of the Illinois-Chicago Thanksgiving Tournament.
With Alabama having played in the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, Cal is already slated to play at least three teams from last year's tournament during the nonconference portion of the 2024-25 season. The Bears are also playing in the previously announced 2024 Acrisure Classic against Michigan State on Nov. 26 followed by a contest on Nov. 27 against either Arizona or Vanderbilt – all three of which played in last year's NCAA Tournament. Additional nonconference games will be announced at a later date.
