Four More Bears Earn Bids To Summer Games
INDIANAPOLIS – The conclusion of the 2024 United States Olympic Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium saw California Director of Swimming & Diving
David Durden named an assistant coach for the United States.
This marks Durden's third stint as a United States coaching staff member. He was the head coach in the 2020 Tokyo Games and an assistant at the 2016 Rio Games.
The only swimmer representing the Bears on Sunday night was alumna Abbey Weitzeil. Having already been selected to the United States Olympic Team, Weitzeil went out strong and finished third overall with a time of 24.26. A season-best time for the three-time Olympian.
Also named to the United States Olympic team was Brooks Curry, a member of Cal's postgrad trailing group, who was named to the 4x200 free relay. It will be his second Olympic Games.
Incoming freshmen Mary-Ambre Moluh and Lilou Ressencourt will represent the host country of France this summer. The duo were named to the French squad earlier today.
In all, 16 current and former Golden Bears have punched their ticket to Paris, 11 from the men, including five for the United States. Five on the women's side.
