Cal Earns 19 ACWPC All-Academic Honors
Bears Land 2nd-Most Selections In Program History
BERKELEY – The California women's water polo team excelled in the classroom once again during the 2023-24 school year, receiving its second-highest total of ACWPC All-Academic selections ever with 19, it was announced Wednesday.
This is the fourth straight time that the program has had at least 17 honorees, as nearly eighty percent of its roster finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better. Five Golden Bears earned outstanding (3.71-4.00 GPA) status, one shy of last year's program record (6).
Isabel Williams received her fourth straight ACWPC All-Academic nod. She was joined in the outstanding category by Golden Bear Award winner Michelle Croteau – who finished with the highest cumulative GPA on the team – along with Rozanne Voorvelt, Elena Flynn and Feline Voordouw.
Eight Bears were recognized in the superior category (3.41-3.70), including four-time recipients Maddie DeMattia and Mara Loughlin. Claire Rowell and Jessie Rose qualified for the second straight year, while Elaia Hamilton, Julianne Snyder, Nieve Courtney and Talia Fonseca all made their debuts on the ACWPC All-Academic Team.
Reaching excellent status (3.20-3.40) were three-time selection Mallory Reynoso, two-time honorees Abbi Magee and Maryn Dempsey, and first-timers Reagan Whitney, Julia Bonaguidi and Kate Meyer.
