Former Bear Wins Silver For New Zealand In Men’s Four

PARIS – Former California men's rower Ollie Maclean earned his first Olympic medal when he won silver with the New Zealand men's four Thursday morning.
 
New Zealand got off to a great start staying within the top three in the opening few hundred meters. The Kiwis made a move and pulled even with the United States for the lead at the 500-meter mark. New Zealand maintained its position and was just two seats behind the United States at the halfway mark. Maclean's crew made a move and took a one-seat lead over the U.S. with 500 meters to go. but the Americans responded over the last 250 meters and regained the lead for good with New Zealand taking the silver medal in a time of 05:49.88 – just .85 seconds behind the United States.
