PARIS – Olympic veterans and team captains Ryan Murphy and Abbey Weitzeil helped the United States win the gold medal in the 4x100 mixed medley relay at the 2024 Summer Games at Paris La Defense Arena.

Murphy won his fifth career Olympic gold medal and eighth overall, reeling off a blistering split of 52.08 while leading off with the backstroke leg. His performance helped Team USA set a world record in the event with a mark of 3:37.43. Murphy previously won the bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke earlier in Paris. He now has three career gold medals on American relay teams.

Weitzeil helped the United States advance to the final as the top seed with a 24.75 split in the freestyle as the anchor leg during Friday's prelims. It's Weitzel's second career gold medal and sixth overall. She also won the silver medal earlier in Paris in the 4x100 freestyle relay.
