DAVIS – The No. 5 California men's water polo team finished 4-0 at the Aggie Roundup, closing the second season of the tournament with Sunday exhibition wins over American River, 19-6 and West Valley, 21-12.

The freshmen led the way for the Golden Bears in the win against American River, with Alex Oprea pouring in a game-high four goals and Maddox Arlett scoring three. Dante Ianora, Ryder Hagan, Piero Arienti and Will Kelly all registered hat tricks in the win over West Valley.

Cal jumped out to a 6-0 lead in its first game of the day with five different first-quarter goal scorers finding the back of the net. The lead grew to as high as 15 goals on a Carsten Peters goal in the fourth quarter that capped a 7-0 run.

Jordi Gascon finished with a game-high four earned exclusions to go with two goals. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Riley Clansen ended the game nine saves.

After a short break, the Bears were right back at it against West Valley, getting six first-quarter goals from five goal scorers for the second straight game. The Bears finished the opening period with a flurry of unanswered goals, getting two straight from Piero Arienti and a penalty from Marci Szatmary in just over a minute of game time.

Cal's lead never dropped below three goals the rest of the way and the Bears pulled away for good after scoring seven goals in the third quarter. Hagan finished with three assists to go with his three goals. Ianora and Kelly had two earned exclusions each to go with their hat tricks. Clansen tallied another seven saves defending the cage.

After eight straight games away from home to start the year, the Bears will be home to host the Overnght MPSF Invitational next weekend on Sept. 20-22.
