SEASIDE – The California women's golf team takes its full roster into the Molly Invitational at Bayonet & Black Horse on Monday and Tuesday, returning to the course where it set multiple program records and won its first of three straight competitions last September.

The Golden Bears came out on fire in last year's opening round in Seaside, with Constance Fouillet tying the program's all-time best round at 6-under-par 66 over her first 18 holes. Cal eventually shattered its previous 54-hole record, shooting 28-under 836 as a team to tie then-No. 2 Oregon for a share of first-place honors.

This year's Molly will include 11 teams playing on the par-72, 6,147-yard Bayonet Golf Course. The first two rounds will be played on Monday and there will be an 8:30 a.m. PT shotgun start on both days.

Fouillet began this season as the Bears' low scorer for the second straight time, carding a 2-under 214 to tie for 11th-place individually at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate.

Seven Bears return to action for the second time this week following Thursday's Big Match against Stanford. Jieming Yang, Adora Liu and Claudia Lara Miravitlles all earned wins playing alongside their Cal men's golf counterparts.

NEW ERA
For the first time ever, Cal opened a season without Nancy McDaniel, who spent the previous 29 years as the team's founding head coach. McDaniel's replacement for Cal's inaugural season in the ACC is fellow California Athletics Hall of Famer Aagaard, who earned three straight NGCA All-American honors with the Bears from 2003-06, returned to Cal as an assistant coach for two years from 2013-15, and most recently led Washington State to back-to-back NCAA Regionals in 2023 and 2024.

WGCA ASSISTANT COACH OF THE YEAR
Associate head coach Bev Terry stepped up in a huge way in 2023-24, taking on more coaching duties than ever before while guiding the Bears to one of their best seasons ever. Cal set numerous program records last season, including its lowest 54-hole team score (-28), longest win streak (3), and lowest team scoring average (291.1). The Bears earned five top-five finishes – its most since 2016-17 – and advanced to the NCAA Regional round for the 23rd time since 2000, resulting in Terry earning the first national assistant coach of the year award in program history.

THE FALL SLATE
The Molly will be the third of five competitions for the Bears during the fall. They began the year with a 7th-place finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate and were defeated 4-3 by Stanford at the Big Match on Sept. 26. The Bears play their final competitions of the calendar year at the Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 18-20) and the Nanea Invitational (Oct. 28-30) in Kailua Kona, Hawaii.
