3 Bears Break Personal Bests
Cal Women Finish in Fifth Place; Men Take Seventh
Springfield, ORE. - The California men's and women's cross country teams continued their fall campaign Friday morning at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, with the women's team finishing in fifth place and the men taking seventh place. Five Golden Bears registered personal records or season bests, with six in the top 40.
Junior Justin Pretre led the way for the Cal men for the third consecutive time this season. Pretre finished in 27th place with a time of 24:07.9, followed by senior John Sesteaga in 29th place. Sophomore Gabriel Rodriguez broke his personal best with a finishing time of 24:34.31, crossing the line in 37th place.
Junior Sophie Tau led the way for the second consecutive time for the women's team. Tau finished in eighth place with a PR of 20:27.6. In 13th place, Addie Johnson crossed the line at 20:42.11, breaking her season best. Senior Georgia McCorkle finished in 33rd place with a time of 21:21.53.
Other personal bests and season records from the Cal women included Carolina Dawson (21:53.05 PR) and Sabine Kim (21:55.90 SB).
Next up for the Bears is the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara on Oct.18.
