Cal Leads After Day 1 Of Triton Invitational
Bears Record 4 First-Place Finishes
LA JOLLA, Calif. – The California women's swimming & diving team finished day one of the season-opening Triton Invitational with the lead after winning four of the six events. The Golden Bears (481) pace the five-team meet followed by Stanford (368) in second, UC San Diego (271.5) in third, Hawai'i (243.5) in fourth, and UC Santa Barbara (158) in fifth.
Cal opened the 2025-26 season with a win in the 200-yard IM relay with the 'A' team of
Mary-Ambre Moluh (backstroke),
Silje Slyngstadli (breaststroke),
Annie Jia (butterfly), and
Mia West (freestyle) finishing with a time of 1:37.69.
The Bears took the top four spots in the 500-yard freestyle with freshman
Claire Weinstein winning the first race of her collegiate career with a time of 4:37.14. Fellow freshman
Ella Cosgrove (4:39.47) finished in second place, sophomore
Camille Henveaux (4:45.34) followed in third, and freshman
Alexa McDevitt (4:45.52) set a new personal record to place fourth.
Moluh found herself atop the podium once again recording a 52.63 in the 100-yard backstroke. Junior
Ava Chavez (1:59.29) and freshman
Elle Scott (2:00.89) followed that event by placing first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard IM.
West finished her day off with a second-place finish in the 50-yard free with a time of 22.82 and senior
Sydney Griscavage finished just behind her in fourth with a 22.98.
Cal is back in the pool tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the final day of the Triton Invitational.
