Heo Cards 2-Under Par To Lead Golden Bears

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – The California men's golf team opened play at famed St. Andrews Links on Monday and stands in third place after the opening round of the St. Andrews Links Collegiate.

The Golden Bears shot even-par as a team on the Jubilee Course and are four shots behind tournament leader Michigan State.

Senior Daniel Heo is in a tied for third individually after carding a 2-under par 68 in the first round. Heo finished with four birdies – including three in a row from holes 10-12.

Junior Charlie Bundy, sophomore Ziqin Zhou and freshman Xihuan Chang are part of a group tied for seventh place at even-par.

Tuesday's second round will also be played on the Jubilee Course before the match play final round takes place on the St. Andrews Old Course, considered the oldest course in the world. The top two teams after the second round will go head-to-head for the championship on Wednesday and the remaining two teams will play in the consolation final.

Tuesday's round tees off at 2:42 a.m. PT/10:42 a.m. BT.
