No. 4 Cal Drops Double Dual To No. 3 ASU, No. 8 Stanford
Bears Win 2 Events on Day 2
BERKELEY – The No. 4 men's swimming & diving team fell to No. 3 Arizona State (139-198) and No. 8 Stanford (134-205) at the two-day tri-day meet, which concluded on Saturday at Spieker Aquatics Complex in Berkeley.
The Golden Bears opened the second day of the meet with a third-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with A-group of
Ryan Erisman,
Keaton Jones,
Max Goettsch and
Nans Mazellier with a time of 6:20.11, the third-fastest time in the country this season.
Yamato Okadome secured his second win of the meet after taking first in the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking the fastest time in the county, 1:51.66, this season, which is also an NCAA qualifying time.
Two Bears claimed two of the top three spots in the 200-yard backstroke, led by
Humberto Najera in second (1:41.61), followed by
Casper Puggaard in third (1:42.38). Najera secured the NCAA qualifying time, while Puggaard slightly missed the cut.
Ryan Erisman continued his stellar performance throughout the two-day meet after another first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:15.76, the 10th-fastest time of the season and an NCAA qualifying time.

Cal returns to the pool to face off against Stanford in the Triple Distance Meet on Nov. 7 at Spieker Aquatics Complex. The first event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. PT.
