Cal Women’s Basketball Adds To 2026 Class

Bears Sign Anna Lagonikaki From Greece

The California women's basketball team added to its 2026 freshmen class with the signing of Anna Lagonikaki, Cal head coach Charmin Smith announced Thursday. She joins incoming freshmen Aussies Ruby Perkins and Zara Russell who signed with the Golden Bears earlier this month.

Lagonikaki, a 6-foot-3 forward out of Chania, Crete, Greece, has played on several Greek national teams. She currently plays for Club Panathinaikos at the 2025 FIBA Women's EuroCup, where she is teammates with former Bears Jaelyn Brown and Ioanna Krimili.

Lagonikaki also played for Greece in the 2025 FIBA U18 and 2024 FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket, where she averaged 4.6 points and 2.2 rebounds combined over the two tournaments.

"Anna is a long forward who will add depth to our frontcourt," Smith said. "Her experience with her national and senior women's team shows in the maturity of her skillset. Anna is a high IQ post player who has competed at the highest level in her class. She finishes well around the rim going both left and right, and we can't wait to have her in Bear Territory."
