Masses Named To Fourth All-America Team

Cal Cornerback Named All-American By FWAA

For the fourth time, California defensive back Hezekiah Masses has been named to an All-America team. This time, the Football Writers Association of America voted Masses a second-team All-American, the association announced Thursday.
 
He has garnered All-America status from four of the five major All-America teams, (Walter Camp, Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association and FWAA) with only the NCAA Consensus All-America team left to be announced.
 
Masses, who was named to the FWAA's Second-Team Defense, was tied for fourth in the country with five interceptions this season. In the ACC, his five interceptions was tied for the second most.
 
In addition to his five interceptions, Masses led both the nation and the ACC with 18 passes defended and led the nation with 1.50 passes defended per game. He was also tied for second in the ACC and nationally with 13 pass breakups and tallied 43 tackles in 12 games this season for the Bears.
 
Masses became the second consecutive Cal defensive back to receive All-America status after Nohl Williams achieved the distinction last season.
