Cal Records Top-3 Finishes In Both Relay Events

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 6 California women's swimming & diving team got its first-ever ACC Championship off to a successful start Tuesday, recording a pair of podium finishes at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The Golden Bears' 200-yard medley relay team of Isabelle Stadden (backstroke), Leah Polonsky (breaststroke), McKenna Stone (butterfly) and Mary-Ambre Moluh (freestyle), which entered the meet ranked No. 3 in the nation, was edged by Stanford to take second place with a time of 1:34.34. That was just .10 slower than the team's best mark of the season, which is also tied for fifth place all-time in the event at Cal.

Cal's 800 freestyle relay team of Polonsky, Ava Chavez, Mia West and Lilou Ressencourt reeled off a season-best time of 6:55.98 to place third behind Virginia and Stanford. The mark was the best in the nation before Tuesday but Virginia won the event with an NCAA-record time of 6:44.13 and Stanford finished in 6:51.79.

Freshman Violet Williamson contributed points for the Bears in the 1-meter dive by finishing 20^th with a score of 237.10.

The meet continues Wednesday with the first individual events. Polonsky is the No. 3 seed in the 200 individual medley, Moluh is seeded fourth in the 50 free and Maya Geringer is No. 8 in the 500 freestyle.
