Lauzon Earns Second ACC Gymnast Of The Week Award

Bears Win Fourth Honor In 5 Weeks

After an outstanding performance at NC State last weekend, senior Mya Lauzon of the No. 7 California women's gymnastics team was named the ACC Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Lauzon, who became the first Golden Bear to win the award on Jan. 7, is now also the team's first repeat winner. Cal has won four weekly honors in the first five weeks of its inaugural ACC season.

Lauzon led the Bears to a 197.175-196.550 win over the 21st-ranked Wolfpack in their first ACC road meet with three individual event wins and two second-place finishes. The Kent, Washington, native won the all-around (39.650), the uneven bars (9.925) and the floor exercise (9.95) while taking second on vault (9.975) and the balance beam (9.900).

The senior's all-around score is the best in the conference so far this season and bars, beam and floor scores were all season highs. She has now posted a 9.9+ on all five floor routines to start her final year. Lauzon leads the team with seven total event titles, four of which have come on floor.
