LINEUP AT A GLANCE
Freshman Ziqin (Eric) Zhou will top the Golden Bears' lineup for the third time in 2024-25. Zhou has earned a spot in the lineup in five straight tournaments since mid-Fall and has two top-25 individual finishes, including a tie for 13th at the Southwestern Invitational in January. Seniors Charlie Berridge and Kuangyu (Tony) Chen will play in their sixth tournaments of the season – and third straight this spring – as Cal's No. 3 and 4. Chen has twice played in the Cabo Collegiate, placing 38th and 31st in 2024 and 2022, respectively.

Grad transfer Wenliang Xie, the team's No. 2 this week, is a part of the lineup for the first time since October.

CAL AT THE CABO COLLEGIATE
The Bears have played in the Cabo Collegiate eight times in the tournament's 15-year history, most recently placing 10th in the 2024 edition. Cal's best finish at the event was runner up (-6, 846) in 2018 when Collin Morikawa won individual medalist, shooting 16-under-par (66-67-64 – 197) for a then-tournament record low 54-hole score.

FALL IN REVIEW
The Bears competed in four stroke-play events during the Fall, earning three straight top-four finishes – fourth at The Tindall, fourth at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational and third at the Pacific Invitational – before ending the slate with an 11th-place effort at the Preserve Golf Club Collegiate. Four Bears finished 11th or better individually throughout the fall, including two top-six finishes by Heo, who was one of Cal's top performers in the four stroke-play events.

LEADING THE CHARGE
The Bears have laid the building blocks for a successful future in their first season under Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golf Michael Wilson, who was hired to the position on July 22, 2024. Wilson, a 2007 alumnus and key member of Cal's 2004 NCAA Men's Golf Championship team, returned to Berkeley most recently following two successful seasons at the helm of Colorado State's program (2022-24), having led the Rams to back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances and a 2023 NCAA Championship berth. He's in his eighth season as a Division I head coach.

The $23 million gift — the largest endowment gift in Cal Athletics history — provided by an anonymous donor and established campus friend, will fully endow the men's and women's teams and provide Golden Bear golfers with a world class training facility at the Stonebrae Country Club.
