4 Bears Named All-ACC

Cal Leads Conference With 13 Honors

Four members of the No. 6 California women's gymnastics team earned a total of 13 All-ACC honors, the conference announced Monday.

Senior Mya Lauzon and junior eMjae Frazier were the only two gymnasts to be named All-ACC in all five disciplines. Senior Maddie Williams earned the honor for the uneven bars and floor exercise and sophomore Kyen Mayhew was given the nod for vault.

The All-ACC team consists of the top six ranked ACC performers on each of the four events along with the top two all-around scorers. All rankings are based on the National Qualifying Scores (NQS). The Golden Bears led the conference in total selections

Lauzon has now tallied 12 all-conference honors in her career and continues to expand her expertise by earning the nod on bars for the first time. This is her third straight year of recognition for vault, beam, and floor and her second straight year as an all-arounder. The senior is the conference's highest ranked all-arounder, currently sixth in the nation, and its top beam (8th) and floor (4th) competitor.

This is the second year in a row that Frazier has been honored in all five disciplines and now has 11 all-conference designations to her name. The junior ranks 14th in the country in the all-around and has an NQS of 9.880 or better in all four events. This past Friday she won three events in a single meet and has nine total on the year.

Williams wraps up her Cal career with her fourth straight bars recognition and her first honor on floor. The third-ranked bars competitor in the country boasts an NQS of 9.940 on the event, which is the highest of any Bear on any event this season. Six of her 12 event titles this year have come on bars.

Mayhew owns the top vault score on the team this year, a 9.925 that won her the event in the Bears dual with Pitt on Feb. 23. She has three scores of 9.9 or better and an NQS of 9.860 that earned her the first all-conference selection of her career.

The yearly conference awards (Gymnast, Specialist, Newcomer, and Coach) will be announced following the ACC Championship this Saturday, March 22. Cal, the ACC Regular Season Champion, has been designated as the top seed and will compete in the second session, which begins at 4 p.m. PT on ACC Network.
