Lauzon Wins Sixth ACC Gymnast Of The Week Award

Senior Closes Regular Season With 5 Event Wins

Senior Mya Lauzon of the No. 6 California women's gymnastics team closed out the regular season with her record-sixth ACC Gymnast of the Week award, the conference announced Tuesday.

Lauzon has now won the award five times in seven weeks and bookended the Golden Bears' inaugural ACC season winning it the first and last weeks of the year. Cal won Gymnast of the Week nine out 11 weeks and totaled 10 weekly honors collected by five different gymnasts.

The Bears ended the regular season with a pair of wins in two home quad meets this past weekend thanks in part to Lauzon's five event wins and seven podium finishes. On Friday she won the balance beam (9.95) and the floor exercise (9.925) while finishing second in the all-around (39.55). Lauzon followed that up with a phenomenal Senior Day performance Sunday by winning the all-around (39.675), beam (9.975) and floor (9.95).

This award comes just one day after she was named All-ACC in all five disciplines.

Lauzon and the top-seeded Bears now have their sights set on Saturday's ACC Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina. Cal competes in the second session, which begins at 4 p.m. PT on ACC Network.
