California women's tennis senior Jessica Alsola was named the ACC Player of the Week and paired with Mao Mushika to earn the ACC Doubles Team of the Week award, the conference office announced Tuesday. The Golden Bears were honored for their play in Cal's recent victories at No. 2 Virginia and No. 54 Virginia Tech.
 
Last Friday in Charlottesville, Virginia, the 12th-ranked Cal tandem defeated top-ranked Melodie Collard and Elaine Chervinsky 7-6(4) to clinch the doubles point of an eventual 4-1 win over the Cavaliers. On Sunday against the Hokies, Alsola paired with a different partner – Greta Greco Lucchina – to clinch the doubles point in a 6-4 win over Arina Gamretkaia and Tara Gorinsek. Alsola later bested 30th-ranked Ozlem Uslu 6-1, 6-4 in singles in Cal's 6-1 triumph.
 
This marks Cal's second ACC Player of the Week award, including Mushika's accolade on Jan. 14, and the first conference doubles honor for the Bears.
 
Seventeenth-ranked Cal (9-4, 6-0 ACC) next plays ACC road matches at No. 65 Florida State on Friday and No. 69 Miami on Sunday.
