Men’s Rowing Heads To San Diego Crew Classic

Coming in ranked No. 2 in the IRCA/IRA Men's Collegiate Rowing Preseason Poll, the California men's rowing team will compete in the annual San Diego Crew Classic at Mission Bay on Saturday and Sunday. The Golden Bears will only send their freshman 8+, who will compete in both the men's collegiate varsity 8+ Cal Cup and the men's open 8+ Anderson Borthwick Memorial Trophy races.
 
In the Cal Cup, the Bears will face off against UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara in the event's first heat at 10:16 a.m. PT. In the Anderson Borthwick Memorial Trophy, they will take on crews from Club Nautico De San Juan, Community Rowing, Inc. and the Potomac Boat Club.
 
The freshmen 8+ swept both the Cal Cup and Anderson Borthwick Memorial Trophy at last year's San Diego Crew Classic.
 
Formed in 1973, the Crew Classic is considered one of the premier spring rowing regattas of the year and annually welcomes more than 4,200 athletes who compete in over 140 races.
