Molloy Leads Cal With Career-Best 2-Under Opening Round

PHOENIX – Junior Anna Molloy carded a 2-under-par 70 to lead the California women's golf team in the opening round of the PING/ASU Invitational on Friday, as the Golden Bears ended the day in sixth place with an even-par 288 team score.

Molloy began the best round of her career shooting 4-under over her first seven holes, ending up with a team-leading six birdies on the day and in seventh place individually. Junior Adora Liu returned to the lineup after missing the previous two tournaments and finished second on the team at 1-over 72 to place 14th.

Sophomore Constance Fouillet shot 1-over 73 to end the day in 26th place. Seniors Jieming Yang and Kaylyn Noh carded a 2-over 74 and 3-over 75, respectively. Freshman Claudia Lara Miravitlles competed as an individual and tied Noh with a 3-over 75.

Cal currently sits in a tie with New Mexico for sixth place. The Bears are just two strokes shy of third-place Pepperdine and UCLA.
