Bears Face 3 Top-25 Teams In Huntsville

The No. 6 California women's gymnastics team heads to Huntsville, Alabama this Sunday for Elevate the Stage, a podium meet that also features No. 8 Michigan State, No. 14 Alabama, and No. 24 North Carolina. The top-25 quad meet will be aired on ACC Network and first routine is set for 2 p.m. PT at Propst Arena.

The Golden Bears (15-2, 5-0 ACC) secured the ACC regular season title last weekend with a win over Stanford but will be looking to go a perfect 6-0 in conference matchups with a win over the Tar Heels this weekend.

ALL-AROUND GREATNESS
Cal's four everyday all-arounders rank in the top 30 in the country based on national qualifying score. Mya Lauzon (39.600) leads the way in 6th, followed by senior Maddie Williams (39.470) in 12th, junior eMjae Frazier (39.460) in 14th, and senior Ella Cesario (39.355) in 26th. The Bears and No. 1 Oklahoma are the only two teams in the country with four top-30 ranked all-arounders.

FIRST SEASON, FIRST TITLE
With a win over Stanford last Friday on The Farm, the Bears secured their first ACC regular season title in their inaugural season. They are the first Cal program to be dubbed ACC regular season champs and just the second team to hoist the women's gymnastics trophy as the conference is only its second season of sponsoring the sport.

Cal already has its name all over the conference record book with the two highest team scores (197.775, 197.665) in ACC history, the two highest NQS marks (197.200, 197.345), and the highest individual all-around score (Mya Lauzon - 39.775).

The Bears have won at least a share of their conference title in four straight seasons and are back-to-back outright champions.

LAUZON, WILEY EARN WEEKLY AWARDS
Mya Lauzon and freshman Mya Wiley earned a pair of weekly ACC awards, the conference announced Tuesday.

Lauzon was named Gymnast of the Week for the fifth time this year and fourth time in the last five weeks. The Golden Bears have now earned the honor eight out of nine weeks this season. Wiley became the first Bear to earn Newcomer of the Week, giving Cal multiple winners in the same week for the first time this season.

Lauzon helped lead the Bears to an ACC regular-season championship by posting four routines with a score of 9.90+ and finding the podium in all five events. The senior won the all-around (39.675) and the floor exercise (9.95), earned a share of the balance beam title (9.925), tied for second on vault (9.90), and split the bronze medal on the uneven bars (9.90).

Wiley had to wait around for the entirety of the meet before getting her chance to shine but was not fazed one bit by the anticipation. In the very last routine of the night, the freshman stepped up to the vault runway and anchored the lineup with a career-high 9.90 that secured the win and the top spot in the ACC for the Bears. She ended up in a tie for second place in the event, which is the second podium of her career.
