Li Named CGA Regular Season All-American
Pommel Horse Star Ranks 6th In NCAA
For the first time in his career, California men's gymnastics'
Aidan Li has been named a Regular Season All-American, as announced Tuesday by the College Gymnastics Association (CGA). The award, which was launched in 2023, honors the top eight gymnasts in each event (including the all-around) calculated by their four-score average. Li currently ranks sixth in the nation on pommel horse with a four-score average of 14.300.
"Aidan has been a key figure to our team's success," interim head coach
Bryan Del Castillo said. "His performances inspire team members and elevate morale."
Li is the third Golden Bear to be named a Regular-Season All-American, joining
Jasper Smith-Gordon (2023-24, vault) and
Noah Newfeld (2023, all-around). He has taken at least a share of first place on pommel horse in five of Cal's seven meets, which included a season-best 14.650 at Stanford on Feb. 2. Two weeks after that meet, he won the Elite Canada pommel horse title and outscored the rest of the field by 1.400 points.
This Saturday, he will look to medal for the second-straight year at the MPSF Championships, where he finished with the silver in 2024. He will then turn his attention to the NCAA Championships on April 18-19, hoping to surpass last year's seventh place finish for another All-American nod.
