Second Bear To Receive Honors For Third Time

BERKELEY – Graduate student Bjorn Seeliger of the California men's swimming & diving team has earned Academic All-American Second Team recognition, as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday.

Seeliger, studying business administration with a 3.73 cumulative grade point average, becomes the second Golden Bear in program history to earn CSC Academic All-American honors for a third time, joining former Bear Ryan Murphy (2014-17). Seeliger is also a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American and Pac-12 Winter Academic All-American, and was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.

Seeliger is a 32-time All-American, 12-time Pac-12 champion and three-time ACC champion. He had three top-five finishes at the 2025 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, including a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay and fourth place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.

To be eligible for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have also earned CSC Academic All-District accolades, be at least a sophomore, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50 and compete in five competitions or finish in the top eight at a conference meet.
