Cal Football Announces 2025 Game Day Themes
Special Celebrations At Home Contests Revealed
BERKELEY -Â The California football program announced its home game themes for the upcoming 2025 season on Monday. Over the course of the season, Golden Bear fans have the chance to celebrate a variety of groups and causes.Â
Beginning in September, fans can gather at California Memorial Stadium to celebrate historically black colleges and universities, educators, youth sports, homecoming, Cal Athletics Hall of Fame inductees, AAPI culture, military members and first responders.

Below is a breakdown of the theme for each home game this season. Specific game times will be revealed at a later date.Â
September 6 – Opponent: Texas Southern
Theme: Black Culture Appreciation
The Black Culture Appreciation effort invites fans to join UC Berkeley in its ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This initiative aims to celebrate Black culture and support efforts that amplify and advance the voices of the community.
September 13 – Opponent: Minnesota
Theme: Educator Appreciation Day/Youth Sports Day/Reading Challenge
Fans are invited to join in celebrating local educators across all levels while highlighting the importance of youth sports in the Bay Area. This game will also recognize participants of this year's summer reading challenge. More information on how to join the reading challenge can be found here.Â
October 4 – Opponent: Duke
Theme: Alumni & Parents Weekend @HomecomingÂ
Join us at this year's Alumni and Parents Weekend at Homecoming and to come together to create new traditions, spark innovation, and write the next chapter in the UC Berkeley story!
October 17 – Opponent: North Carolina
Theme: Friday Night Lights: Hall of Fame & Bay Area Appreciation
Bay Area Appreciation Night will celebrate the region's diverse culture, art, music, food, and community while celebrating newly inducted members of the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame. After the game, fans are invited to stick around to watch a drone and light show.
November 1 – Opponent: Virginia
Theme: Asian American and Pacific Islander Appreciation
Fans are invited to celebrate AAPI culture within the Cal football program, Cal Athletics, UC Berkeley and the Bay Area.
November 29 – Opponent: SMU
Theme: Hometown Heroes
Cal football invites fans to help honor the selfless service and everyday heroism of first responders, military personnel, healthcare workers and frontline community champions across the Bay Area.
