Lauzon, Williams Advance To NCAA Championships

Seniors Seek Individual National Titles

BERKELEY – Seniors Mya Lauzon and Maddie Williams of the California women's gymnastics team have advanced as individuals to the NCAA Championships slated for April 17 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Lauzon will compete in the balance beam and floor exercise while Williams will compete in the uneven bars. Both Golden Bears will compete in the second session at 6 p.m. PT and will rotate with UCLA. Cal is one of just four schools to send multiple gymnasts and Lauzon is the sole individual competing in multiple events.

This will be the third straight trip to Fort Worth for the two Bears and their first as individuals. This will be the 12th time that Cal has been represented at the NCAA Championships by individuals and just the second time that it has sent multiple competitors. The first came in 2014 with both Alicia Asturias (AA) and Dallas Crawford (UB) making an appearance.

Lauzon and Williams hit all 9.95s in their respective events in both sessions of the Tuscaloosa Regional last weekend. Lauzon earned a share of the beam title, making her a three-time NCAA Regional winner, and Williams won her first regional title.
