Former 4-Star Recruit Played Freshman Season At Michigan
BERKELEY – Justin Pippen has signed to play for the California men's basketball program in the 2025-26 season. Pippen, a former four-star recruit out of Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, played his collegiate freshman season at Michigan last year and arrives in Berkeley with three years of eligibility.
Â
Pippen came off the bench in 28 games as a freshman for a Michigan squad that won the 2025 Big Ten Tournament title and reached the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. He averaged 1.6 points per game and totaled 16 assists, six steals and a block.
Â
"Justin is a dynamic guard who plays the game with poise, creativity and confidence," Cal head coach
Mark Madsen said. "He's a skilled playmaker who can score at all three levels and he'll elevate those around him with his vision and unselfishness. We love that Justin is a tireless worker – he has a true hunger to keep improving his game. Our Cal Family is going to love having Justin wearing the Blue and Gold."
Â
Pippen was tabbed as the 2024 CIF Southern Section Breakout Player of the Year after averaging 16.5 PPG, 4.9 APG and 4.5 RPG as a senior at Sierra Canyon.
Â
Pippen is the son of Scottie Pippen, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame member who played 17 seasons in the NBA and was a key part of the Chicago Bulls dynasty that won six NBA Championships. Pippen's brother, Scotty Pippen Jr., plays for the Memphis Grizzlies and previously played under Cal associate head coach
