Bears To Send Eight Qualifiers To Eugene After Wrapping Up NCAA West Regionals
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The California track & field team has officially finished up competition at the NCAA West Regional, with one of the five Golden Bear women who appeared at E.B. Cushing Stadium on Saturday advancing to the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Championships to bring Cal's total number of qualifiers to eight.
Olympian
Caisa-Marie Lindfors became Cal's first woman to qualify in the discus since Kelechi Anyanwu did so in 2007, posting a mark of 59.03m (193-8) to take third place in the field and become the Bears' fifth female thrower to advance – a new program record. This will be the third time that Lindfors will appear at the NCAA Championships and her first in a Cal uniform, having represented Florida State in 2021 and 2023.
Asjah Atkinson recorded a time of 13.28 in the 100m hurdles quarterfinal, while
Saqqara Ruffin lowered her wind-legal PR by a full tenth of a second to 13.35, rising to sixth on Cal's all-time list.
Myla Canty fouled her first two attempts in the triple jump but posted a wind-aided mark of 13.03m (42-9) on her third leap for her second 13-meter performance this season.
