The late Clint Evans, California's baseball head coach for 25 seasons, has become the first Golden Bear to be selected to the College Baseball Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2025.

Evans was instrumental in establishing the College World Series and led the Golden Bears to a national title in the first ever CWS in 1947 with a perfect 4-0 record in the event. His Golden Bear teams also won six California Intercollegiate Baseball Association crowns and shared three others during his 25 seasons (1930-54) as Cal's head coach. Evans' winning percentage at Cal (.681, 547-256) is the best in school history while his 547 wins are second. His teams had winning records in 24 of his 25 campaigns at the helm, which also stands as the longest tenure in program history. Sam Chapman and Jackie Jensen were among the standouts he coached to go on play professional baseball.

Evans is also a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association and Cal Athletic Hall of Fames, while his No. 13 is one of only four retired Cal baseball jersey numbers.

Evans is a posthumous inductee to the College Baseball Hall of Fame, having passed away in 1975.

The 18th induction class will be honored at the 2026 Night of Champions presented by Prairiefire on February 12, 2026 in Overland Park, Kansas, the home of the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
