Gavin Eddy were named to the 2025 Academic All-District Baseball team, selected by College Sports Communicators, and announced Tuesday. The selections recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Birge was also chosen as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and advances to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. The 2025 CSC Academic All-America team will be announced July 1.

- Led the 2025 Cal team in home runs (12) and walks (40), while he was second in on-base percentage (.415), third in runs scored (38), and among regulars first in slugging percentage (.582)
- Played in 45 games with 41 starts (37 C, 3 DH, 1 1B)
- Ended the season on a career-high four-game hit streak May 16-22 (.455, 5-11, 2B, 3 HR, 5 RBI, 7 BB, HBP)
- 22 of his 31 hits were for extra bases (12 HR, 9 2B, 1 3B)
- Hit all 12 of his career home runs in 2025 in a collegiate career that began at Wichita State in 2022
- Threw out 11-of-31 (.355) opposing base runners attempting to steal
- Started ACC Championship by equaling career highs with two homers and four RBI on May 20 against Miami then walked five times May 21 against Wake Forest to equal a school-record and the most by a Division I player in 2025

- Pitched in 16 games (nine starts) and posted a 4-4 record with a 5.74 ERA in a team-high 58.0 innings with 50 strikeouts that were fourth
- Each of his first eight outings came as Cal's second starting pitcher in each of the first eight weekend series but seven of his last eight appearances were out of the bullpen
- Earned a win May 10 against No. 2 Florida State by shutting out the Seminoles over the final 5.0 innings on just three hits with seven strikeouts to combine with
Oliver de la Torre for a 5-0 six-hit shutout victory
- Won in his first appearance out of the bullpen April 15 against Fresno State (career-high 7.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 SO, 1 WP)
- Allowed just three hits in 14.1 innings in his first three starts Feb. 15 in his collegiate debut against Nevada, Feb. 22 against Houston when he threw 5.0 hitless innings and March 1 against Santa Clara, while he was also impressive in a March 22 start as the winner at Stanford
