Cal Volleyball Receives 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award
Bears Surpass Combined GPA Of 3.3 For Second Straight Year
The 2024 California volleyball team was named as a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) 2025 Team Academic Award for the second straight year, as announced by the organization Monday.
The Golden Bears first received the honor in 2011, the first of seven times in the award's history. To be eligible for the Team Academic Award, teams must maintain a combined year-long GPA of 3.3 or better on a 4.0 scale, or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
This year, Cal will return nine members of its 2024 squad, including four (
Peyton DeJardin,
Sophia Johnson,
Ashley Li and
Sawyer Thomsen) who received individual All-ACC Academic recognition. The 2025 Cal volleyball season begins at home on August 29 against San Diego State.
