10 Bears Named CGA Academic All-Americans

Tyler Shimizu Earns Third-Straight First-Team Honor

10 members of the 2025 California men's gymnastics team were recognized as Academic All-America honors by the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) on Tuesday for their successes in the classroom.
 
Graduates Tyler Shimizu and Aidan Li, both First-Team members, each received their fourth career Academic All-America nods. Shimizu was named to the First Team for the third year in a row, while Li earned his way onto the squad for the second straight season.
 
The rest of Cal's First-Team selections were rising sophomore Matteo Bardana, rising junior Tucker Yasunaga and rising seniors Theodor Roald Gadderud, Jasper Smith-Gordon. Smith-Gordon earned First-Team honors for the second consecutive year, while both Roald Gadderud and Yasunaga improved upon their 2024 Second-Team standings.
 
Rising senior Khalen Curry earned Second-Team Academic All-America honors for the second time in his career, leading a group that also includes rising junior Carter Kim and rising sophomores Trigg Dudley and Troy Nuesca.
