Jones, Okadome Win Two Events Each Against Trojans

LOS ANGELES – Keaton Jones and Yamato Okadome were each multiple winners to lead the No. 4 California men's swimming & diving team to a 178-122 dual-meet victory over No. 18 USC on Friday at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.

Nathan Wiffen had an eye-opening swim in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing at 8:50.30 – the sixth-fastest time in Cal history and No. 9 in the country this season. Eduardo Moraes, a mid-year transfer competing for the first time for the Bears, took the 500 free at 4:15.41.

Nikolas Antoniou (50 free – 19.75), Nans Mazellier (100 free – 42.82) and Freddy Klein (400 individual medley – 3:47.43) also notched victories for the Bears.

Jones won the 200 freestyle (1:34.17) and 200 backstroke (1:40.90) while Okadome swept the breaststroke events, taking the 100 in a time of 51.70 and the 200 in 1:50.77.

Cal returns to competition on Jan. 29 for Senior Day against Pacific at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
