Bears Go Undefeated In Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – The No. 7 California women's swimming & diving team closed out its weekend in Los Angeles on Saturday with its second dual win in as many days. The Golden Bears won 11 of 16 events and had 28 podium finishes to defeat UCLA 179-120 at Spieker Aquatics Center.
 
Cal kicked off the meet with a win and an NCAA qualifying time in the 200-yard medley relay as the quartet of Mary-Ambre Moluh, Silje Slyngstadli, Annie Jia, and Sydney Griscavage paced the pool.
 
Junior Kathryn Hazle was the first individual winner of the day taking the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:52.56 followed by sophomore Camille Henveaux in second at 10:10.08. Hazle went on to win the 200 breaststroke (2:11.63) and placed second in the 200 IM (1:58.39).
 
Sophomore Mia West cracked a Cal top-10 list for the second time this weekend recording the eighth-fastest 100 backstroke in program history at 50.78. She also won the 500 free by over 10 seconds recording a time of 4:39.75.
 
On the diving side, Arian Drake continued her stellar weekend finishing second in the three-meter springboard with a score of 300. Violet Williamson found the podium in the one-meter springboard scoring 279.83.
 
The Bears will now return home for their Senior Day meet on Jan. 31 vs No. 3 Stanford. The final dual of the season will begin at 12 p.m. at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
