THE BEARS VS. THE PACK
NC State ranks 18th in the Road To Nationals Rankings in week three after beating No. 14 Clemson last week at its home venue. Cal holds a 1-0 dual-meet series advantage over NC State since joining the ACC in 2025. Last season, the Bears made their first-ever trip to Raleigh, N.C. for dual-meet action when Cal posted a 197.175-196.550 win over the Wolfpack.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Cal captured its first conference win of the season last Sunday at Pittsburgh, while Bears' head coach Geralen Stack-Eaton collected her career-first dual meet win. Three Bears brought home four event titles with
Annalise Newman-Achee claiming the all-around and balance beam,
Casey Brown and
Kyen Mayhew sharing first place on vault and Brown taking first outright on uneven bars.
Â
ALL-AROUNDER ANNALISE
Annalise Newman-Achee has collected three podium finishes in as many meets, taking gold at Pittsburgh, silver at the Best of the West and bronze at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad. She began competing in the all-around this season after primarily featuring on uneven bars last season. Last weekend in Pittsburgh, she set a career-high on floor with a 9.775 and kept her streak of three-straight 9.800+ uneven bars routines with a 9.825 at Pitt. Her first-place finishes in the all-around and balance beam were her first two event titles of the season. Newman-Achee ranks 34th nationally in the all-around.
Â
CB IMPRESSES ON UB
Casey Brown continues to impress on uneven bars, claiming her first event title at Pittsburgh with a 9.875 to mark her third consecutive 9.850+ UB routine this season. She received a season-high 9.925 for her UB routine at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad and ranks in the Top-15 nationally on the event.
Â
Brown also collected a share of the vault title at Pittsburgh with her season-high score of 9.800.
Â
PAULSSON TURNS HEADS
Freshman standout
Tonya Paulsson has garnered attention in her debut collegiate season, putting up two 9.925+ routines and five that scored above a 9.800 in her first season at Cal. She led the Bears with two event titles at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad with a career-high 9.950 on uneven bars to clinch her second-consecutive title in the event, also taking a share of the floor exercise title with her career-high 9.875 score. She ranks 14th in the nation in uneven bars.
Â
MAYHEW MAKES CONTRIBUTIONS
Kyen Mayhew earned her first event title of the 2026 season at Pitt, sharing first-place with
Casey Brown on vault with her 9.800. Mayhew also remains solid on floor exercise, with all of her scores at 9.825 or better this season. Â
