Cal Men’s Golf Heads to Mexico for 3-day, 54-hole Clash

Story Links

The California men's golf team continues its 2026 spring season, heading to the Cabo Collegiate in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The Golden Bears are one of 15 teams competing in the par-71, 7,156-yard course at Twin Dolphin Club. Competition begins Sunday with the teams playing 18 holes each day.

The Bears will look to build off a strong outing at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate earlier this month where they placed 11th out of 19 teams. Sophomore Ziqin Zhou had a career-best finish, tying for third place after shooting a six-under par 204, including a personal best four-under 66 in the final round. Fellow sophomore Sihao Cong registered his fourth top-25 finish of the season by placing in a tie for 21st at 2 over par.

The Bears have competed in the Cabo Collegiate since 2016, with their highest finish coming in second place in 2018. Last season, the Bears tied for 11th place as Zhou led the way shooting a 4-over 217 good for a 22nd-place finish, with fellow returner Sihao Cong (5-over 218) finishing in a tie for 27th place.
