SAN FRANCISCO – California women's golf junior Constance Fouillet finished a stellar performance at the Juli Inkster Invitational on Tuesday, carding a 3-under-par 213 to tie for the individual title in the two-day tournament at TPC Harding Park. It marked the first career championship for Fouillet, who earlier this season also set the women's record at the Old Course at St. Andrews.

"It feels great to finally get my first collegiate win," Fouillet said. "I'm really proud and grateful to my team and coaching staff for preparing me for this moment and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season!"

The Golden Bears finished in second place as a team with a 12-over-par 876, one stroke behind host San José State.

Fouillet — who led through two rounds — shot a 3-over 75 in Round 3 on Tuesday to tie Sacramento State's Tova Hatton for first place as the two-day contest came to a close. Fouillet's previous best performance as a Bear were a pair of runner-up finishes at last year's Silverado Showdown and ACC Championships.

All five Bears in San Francisco finished in the top 30, with seventh-place junior Jasmine Kahler joining Fouillet in the top 10 after posting a 1-over 73 in Round 3 to finish with a 3-over 219. Adora Liu, a senior, tied for 17th place with an 8-over 224, while freshman Michelle Woo and senior Anna Molloy tied for 29th place with each carding a 10-over 226.

"The team is seeing some of the hard work paying off in competitive play," Cal head coach Sofie Aagaard said. "This week we put ourselves in position to win a tournament going into the last day. We started off well even in the final round but stumbled on the back nine and lost to San José State by one stroke. It is hard to win golf tournaments, and we are grateful for the practice we got this week, for next time to be successful so we can clinch the trophy at the end."

Cal next competes in the Silicon Valley Showcase hosted by Santa Clara from March 30-31 at the Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae.
