STANFORD - The 2026 season came to an end on Thursday night for the Cal lacrosse team with a 17-5 loss at No. 10 Stanford at Maloney Field at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. The Golden Bears (6-11, 1-9 ACC) stayed in the game for most of the first half and trailed just 6-4 before the Cardinal (13-3, 8-2 ACC) scored began a string of nine unanswered goals with 5:44 remaining in the second period.
Josie Lillquist was able to end the string with the game's final goal with 2:54 remaining in the fourth.
Lillquist had a pair of goals and Hoeft three assists in their final games as Golden Bears.
Katie Bloomer,
Juliana Doran and
Courtney Wong scored single goals for Cal, while
Jane Middleton had one assist.
Chloe Rand played the entire game in the net and picked up six of her career-high 10 saves in the opening half.
It was also the final Rand and Wong, as well as
Annette Ciupek,
Brynn Gallagher and
Clara Page.
