Fifth-Seeded Bears Fall To No. 4 USC At MPSF Championships
No. 3 Pair Notches Straight-Set Victory
HUNTINGTON BEACH – The fifth-seeded California beach volleyball team notched a win on Court 3 but fell to fourth-seeded USC 3-1 on Wednesday on the opening day of the 2026 MPSF Championships at Spiker Beach.
The Golden Bears' No. 3 pair of Mila Vugrincic and
Jenna Colligan registered a straight-set victory over the Trojans' Bella Satterwhite and Kerry Keefe, 21-18, 23-21 to improve to 19-11 on the season.
Cal also pushed USC to three sets on Court 1 and Court 2. The Bears' No. 2 pair of
Marilu Pally and
Grace Hong won the first set over the Trojans' Ashley Pater and Kennedy Coakley 21-14 before ultimately falling 14-21, 21-15, 15-9. Cal's top pair trailed 14-10 in the third set before the USC clinched the dual.
The Bears return to action at the MPSF Championships on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. PT. Their opponent won't be determined until after Thursday's morning matches.
