Bears To Appear At Championship For 26th Consecutive Season
The California women's rowing team has earned an NCAA Rowing Championship berth as one of the 12 at-large selections, announced Tuesday afternoon by the NCAA. This marks the Golden Bears' 26th consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship, which is set for May 29-31 at Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, Georgia.
Â
The championship field will feature 22 of the nation's top collegiate programs. Ten conference champions were awarded automatic qualifications while the remaining slots were determined via NCAA selection committee. Cal is ranked eighth nationally in the latest Pocock/CRCA Weekly Poll.
Â
Each team will field two varsity eights and one varsity four crew. Cal will enter the regatta as the No. 7 seed in the varsity eight and the No. 10 seed in both the second varsity eight and varsity four events.
Â
Cal is one of five ACC programs to punch its ticket to the national championship, joined by ACC Champion Stanford, Miami, Syracuse and Virginia. The Bears are coming off a third-place finish at the ACC Championship this past weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Â
Cal will be chasing its fifth national title and first since winning the NCAA Championship in 2018.
