PITTSBURGH – The California softball team defeated Pittsburgh, 9-1, in six innings Sunday afternoon at Vartabedian Field.
Kiki Mashhoud (3-9) tossed a complete game, while the Bears' offense produced nine runs on nine hits to clinch the series.

Maddie Rey homered to straightaway center to put the Bears ahead 1-0 in the first inning.

In the second,
Natalie Marshall crushed her second home run in as many days, a no-doubter to left field, to extend Cal's lead to 3-0.

After two scoreless frames, the Bears added two runs in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from
Gator Robinson and an RBI double by
Kayli Counts to stretch the advantage to 5-0.

Cal broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning to take a commanding 9-0 lead.
Carly Raven and
Anaya Togia each singled in two runs to put the run rule in effect.

Mashhoud surrendered her lone run in the sixth but closed out the game with a groundout to secure the Bears' first series win of the season.

With the win, the Bears finish the season 15-37 overall and 5-19 in ACC play.
