Women's Golf Signs Transfer Sydney Silva

Sophomore Becomes 1st Addition To 2026-27 Roster

California women's golf has officially signed transfer Sydney Silva for the 2026-27 season. Silva played her freshman season at Arizona and will have three years of eligibility remaining at Cal.

A product of the San Francisco Bay Area, Silva hails from Castro Valley located 20 miles south of Berkeley.

"Cal has always felt like home to me," Silva said. "Growing up in the Bay Area, I was able to spend time with former head coach Nancy McDaniel and associate head coach Beverly Terry at Cal junior golf camps and see firsthand what makes this community so special. Coach Aagaard has followed my journey through my junior golf career, and knowing the support and belief this coaching staff has shown me makes this opportunity very meaningful. Along with the incredible academic reputation, business opportunities and outstanding golf program, I couldn't be more excited to continue my journey as a Golden Bear."

Prior to Arizona, Silva earned a 17th-place finish at the 2025 San Francisco City Women's Championship, picked up a ninth-place finish at the 2024 NCGA Women's Amateur Match Play Championship, participated in the 2024 Canadian Women's Amateur Championship and finished second the 2024 NCGA Women's Amateur Championship.

In 2023, the Bay Area native registered a third-place finish at the 2023 CWAC Junior Girls State Championship and advanced to the round of 64 at the 2023 US Girls Junior Amateur.

"We are excited to add Sydney to our team this coming fall," head coach Sofie Aagaard said. "Sydney is very familiar with Cal, being from the Bay Area, and will fit right in with our Cal community. Sydney combines her love for the game of golf with a dedicated lifestyle around learning, shown both in her process-oriented approach to athletic training, and in her strong academic performances. She is a long hitter with great athleticism, commitment to progress and competitive mindset on the golf course."
