CALIFORNIA NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFIERS (IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE)

Seth Johnson – Men's Decathlon (Wednesday-Thursday)
  • Year: Redshirt Junior
  • Hometown: San Bernardino
  • NCAA Rank: T-10
  • ACC Rank: 2
  • PR: 7786 (6th Cal History)
  • Accolades: 2025 Second-Team Indoor All-American and All-ACC, 2024 Pac-12 bronze medalist
  • Last Cal NCAA Decathlon Champion: Mike Morrison, 2011

THE SEASON SO FAR: Johnson has competed in the decathlon just once so far in 2026, his first 10-event outing in two years after redshirting the 2025 outdoor season. His Mt. SAC Relays total of 7,786 was the eighth-best individual performance in program history, elevating him to the No. 6 spot on Cal's all-time list and a top-10 spot in the NCAA standings to qualify for his first NCAA Outdoor Championships. Johnson's top event is the 110m hurdles, in which he has a personal and season best of 14.04 – 12th-fastest by any ACC hurdler this year. At the ACC Outdoor Championships, he competed in the 110m hurdles, the high jump and the javelin throw.

Trevor Rogers – Men's Long Jump (Wednesday)
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Lafayette
NCAA Rank: 42
ACC Rank: 4
PR: 7.76m/25-5.5 (10th Cal History)
Accolades: 2025 ACC outdoor silver medalist, three-time All-ACC
Last Cal NCAA Men's Outdoor Long Jump Champion: None

THE SEASON SO FAR: Rogers has competed four times in the long jump this outdoor season, earning event titles in his first two meets before scoring for Cal at the ACC Outdoor Championships and saving his best for last at the NCAA West Regionals: a leap of 7.76m (25-5.5) to finish seventh out of 47 competitors and qualify for his first NCAA Championships. The second-year dual-sport athlete is now 10th on Cal's all-time list.

Valentina Savva – Women's Hammer Throw (Thursday)
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Larnaca, Cyprus
NCAA Rank: 5
ACC Rank: 1
PR: 70.22m/230-4 (3rd Cal History)
Accolades: 2026 ACC champion, three-time All-ACC, Cypriot record holder
Last Cal NCAA Women's Hammer Champion: Camryn Rogers, 2022

THE SEASON SO FAR: Savva threw the hammer in five regular-season meets, earning four titles, before shattering the meet record at the ACC Outdoor Championships with a season-best mark of 69.68m (228-7) for her first conference title – the second conference women's hammer title in a row won by a Bear. The ACC's No. 1 woman in the event followed that up with a throw of 69.18m (227-0) at the NCAA West Regionals, leading the rest of the field by four feet, three inches, to qualify for her second straight NCAA Outdoor Championships. Savva will look to break the 70-meter barrier for the second time in her career this week, having done so for the first time at the 2025 European U23 Championships.

Ali Sahaida – Women's Pole Vault (Thursday)
Year: Senior
Hometown: El Dorado Hills
NCAA Rank: 7
ACC Rank: 2

Her mark of 4.55m (14-11) at the Mt. SAC Relays set a new program record, making her the first Cal woman to own both the indoor and outdoor program records since 2018 (Lauren Martinez). Sahaida scored for the Bears at the ACC Outdoor Championships and pulled off a clutch performance at the NCAA West Regionals, placing seventh at 4.43m (14-6.25) to qualify for her first NCAA Outdoor Championships.
