Fouillet, Zhao To Compete At European Championships
Current, Incoming Golden Bears To Represent France On Their Respective Teams
California women's golf will have two athletes competing at the 2026 European Championships. Junior
Constance Fouillet will represent France on the Ladies' French Team at the 2026 European Ladies' Team Championship at PGA National Slieve Russell just outside of Ballyconnell Co. Cavan, Ireland, on Tuesday through Saturday. Incoming freshman Giselle Zhao will represent the Girls' French Team at the 2026 European Girls' Team Championship at the Golf & Country Club Zürich in Switzerland.
The Ladies' Team Championship features 22 teams and 132 players — with each team consisting of six players — playing two rounds of stroke play. The eight best teams advance to match play over the next three days. The teams are seeded based on their positions after the stroke-play rounds. The first-place team is drawn to play the quarterfinal against the eighth-place team, the second against the seventh, the third against the sixth and the fourth against the fifth. Teams are allowed to use six players during the team matches, selecting four of them in the two morning foursome games and five players in the afternoon single games. Teams knocked out after the quarterfinals play one foursome game and four single games in each of their remaining matches. Games all square at the 18th hole are declared halved if the team match is already decided.
The eight teams placed 9-16 in qualification stroke play form flight B for similar knockout play, with one foursome game and four single games in each match, to decide their final positions.
The teams placed 17-22 in the stroke-play stage form flight C to determine their final standings.
The 2026 Girls' European Championships follows a similar format with teams made up of u18 players from each country and two rounds of stroke play on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by three days of match play from Thursday to Saturday.
