BERKELEY, Calif.– The California women's soccer team opened its 2026 season with a scoreless draw against California Baptist in its home opener Wednesday afternoon.

Cal held a 6-3 advantage in shots, including a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal, while California Baptist goalkeeper O'Brien made four saves. The Bears also held an 8-2 edge in corner kicks. 

Reese Doherty led the Bears offensively with two shots, both of which were on goal. Jada Faison and Annamarie Williams each added a shot on goal.  

Redshirt junior transfer goalkeeper Alyssa Savig made her first start in a Cal uniform Wednesday afternoon, recording two saves to help the Bears secure a clean sheet.

Two freshmen made their collegiate debuts for the Bears, including Jada Faison and Liya Nartey. Faison led the group, making her first collegiate start and playing 85 minutes. Transfers Alyssa Savig, Annamarie Williams and Cassidy Doogan all made their Cal debuts, with Savig and Williams playing the full 90 minutes.

Cal heads to Santa Clara this Sunday for the "Battle of the Bay" at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
