MALIBU, Calif.– The Bears battled the Pepperdine Waves in a hard-fought match Thursday evening in Malibu, falling 1-0 to the Waves. The Bears and Waves went into halftime scoreless after a defensive opening 45 minutes. Cal recorded five shots, including one on goal, while goalkeeper Alyssa Savig made three key saves to preserve the 0-0 score heading into the break.
Pepperdine broke the scoreless tie in the 65th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Cal recorded one shot on goal in the second half, but Pepperdine's defense limited the Bears' opportunities to find the net.Â
Amaya Faison made her collegiate debut for the Bears in the first half of play against the Waves. Cal is now 0-1-2 on the season and will continue their road stretch Sunday at the University of San Diego, with the match set to air on ESPN+.
